"This year's nominees enlighten and entertain, while spotlighting the diversity of our community. Audiences expect to see their own worlds reflected in media, and today more than ever, those include the lives of LGBT people. Viewers know that LGBT characters and stories are simply natural extensions of, and glimpses into, their own experiences from across America." Three ceremonies will be held to hand out awards, in New York on March 24, Los Angeles on April 21 and San Francisco on June 2.

As Selena Gomez maps out her post-"Wizards of Waverly Place" career, her projects continue to be more and more diverse.

Gomez is attached to produce and most likely star in the big-screen adaptation of the Jandy Nelson novel "The Sky is Everywhere." Gomez will not only play the part of producer but could potentially land the novel's lead role of Lennie Walker, Deadline reports.

Lennie is a 17-year-old nerd-type who loses her older, outgoing sister, Bailey. After Bailey dies, Lennie must step out of her sister's shadow when she falls for two guys (one of whom was Bailey's boyfriend). No word on who is attached to star in the other key parts of the movie. Before she hits the set for "The Sky is Everywhere," Gomez already has some other films lined up. The actress/singer will shoot the darker "Spring Breakers" early this year and has been rumored to be attached to a film called "Hot Mess."

When Gomez spoke to MTV News late last year, she shared that she didn't have any big expectations going into 2012. It seems that game plan is working for her. "I feel like this approach of this year, I wasn't expecting any of the things that happened," she said. "And so I just kind of want to go into the end of this year and the beginning of next year just excited and in a good place and not planning anything."

Justin Bieber Opens Up About Kissing Selena Gomez

Justin Bieber was enlisted by Ellen DeGeneres to help give back to Whitney Elementary, a Las Vegas school that helps underprivileged children. And in addition to donating $100,000 and $100,000 worth of toys, the always-charitable singer performed for the room full of Beliebers.

Bieber even answered some burning questions about his hair, his favorite color and his rise to fame. But, perhaps it was his response about his lady love, Selena Gomez, that had the room most giggly. "What do me and Selena do on the weekends?" he pondered to the room full of school kids. "We go to the movies. And we kiss," he whispered, later laughing, "No, we don't do that." He answered a number of other of the kids' inquiries in a rather quick-fire round. "Do I miss home? Yes, very much," he said. "Cause I'm always traveling and I'm always away from a lot of my family and friends. So, it can be hard. But, once I get to go home and see my family, it's always a pleasure." Before leaving, he had these words of wisdom for the kids: "Be nice to each other and treat each other with respect and grow up to be people of character." The episode aired Wednesday and when he chatted with the school's principal, Sherrie Gahn, he opened up about his own struggles growing up in Canada. "I'm here to bring a smile to these kids' faces. For me, I grew up and I didn't have a lot. We went to food banks to get food for me and my grandparents. Really, if I didn't have my grandparents to help me and these kids they have you to help them," he said. "And it's really special." What questions do you wish Justin Bieber answered? Kristin Cavallari: From 'Laguna Beach' To Motherhood

Former 'Hills' star is expecting her first baby with fiancé Jay Cutler.

Kristin Cavallari is ready to be a mom. The former "Hills" star has confirmed that she's expecting her first child with her fiancé, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.

The blond bombshell has kept us interested from the moment she made her small-screen debut on "Laguna Beach" right through her stint on "The Hills," when she filled the void left vacant by onetime adversary Lauren Conrad.

"Honestly, I think it's fun to play the bad girl, and no one remembers the nice girl, you know?" Cavallari once told MTV News about her roles on some of MTV's most beloved reality shows. And, looking back on her time on those shows, it's not hard to see that she had a lot of fun stirring the pot.

When Cavallari launched her TV career in 2004 as one of the main ladies of "Laguna," she became an instant star, and fans were totally intrigued by her ongoing love triangle with Conrad and Stephen Colletti. In her two seasons on the show, she made a name for herself thanks to her outspoken, larger-than-life personality.

After she left the show in 2005, Cavallari's biggest fans had to wait a good four years before she made her return to MTV. She teased her arrival at Heidi and Spencer's wedding in 2009, just as LC was leaving the show, and from there, she quickly had everyone wondering what she had up her sleeve.

"I think my biggest thing was the first episode, where I really came in with a bang," Cavallari told MTV News, recalling her rooftop fight with Audrina Patridge over Justin Bobby during her "Hills" debut. "It was like, 'All right, clearly I'm back.' "

On top of her Justin Bobby drama with Audrina, Cavallari also teased the cameras about rekindling a romance with ex-boyfriend Brody Jenner — another man she had in common with Conrad. Regardless of all that drama, one hookup is still her most embarrassing.

"I think that's sort of my I-wish-I-didn't moment, was when I made out with Stacie in Vegas," Cavallari said of some girl-on-girl action that made family dinners a little uncomfortable. "That was one episode I had to call my dad and say, 'Dad, sorry — this is going to be your least favorite episode.' "

As "The Hills" wrapped up in July 2010, Cavallari reflected on the franchise and the series' mindboggling end, which may go down as her most memorable moment to date. The finale broke with convention when it dropped the "fourth wall" to show the entire crew on a studio lot as Cavallari pulled away from Brody to head off to Europe.

"I mean, I think we both couldn't have been happier with the ending. We were speechless," she recalled at the time. "I think it's sad to see something that was so great, to see it come to an end is always bittersweet. But I think they had a great run. They went on for so long, and I think it's nice they wrapped up everybody's story and it's a happy ending."

Leave your well-wishes for Kristin as she embarks on her next happy ending!

"American Idol" alum Adam Lambert is readying the release of his next album, Trespassing, set to drop in March. Willow Smith's fans should whip their hair back and forth as the tween's long-simmering debut album, Knees and Elbows, will finally drop in April. Justin Bieber has teased his Believe album for a summer release. He's shared that it will pick up where Justin Timberlake left off before he decided to focus on his acting. Basically, he's bringing sexy back. There are two forthcoming albums that don't have exact release dates but are highly anticipated nonetheless. Will we finally find out who "A" is when season 2 resumes on January 2? Well, only that texting antagonist knows the answer. There are many other mysteries on "The Vampire Diaries" that will also have to be resolved once that show picks up again on January 5. And if all that drama is too much to handle, "Glee" will be back for more sing-along good times on January 17, with the Michael Jackson tribute episode airing one week later.

Celebrity Babies
2012 is poised to be a big year for famous babies. Beyoncé and Jay-Z will welcome their first child into the world any day now. The twosome revealed they were in the family way at the VMAs back in August. Jessica Simpson and her fiancé, Eric Johnson, will also welcome their first little bundle of joy. The news of the pregnancy came after a lot of speculation about Simpson's expanding midsection. As it turns out, it's a big year for triple-threat moms-to-be, with Hilary Duff also expecting a baby come 2012.
