Natalie Portman: Picture-Perfect in Paris

She's always easy on the eyes and this afternoon (April 3) was no different, as Natalie Portman looked picture-perfect while arriving to her hotel in Paris.

Clad in a tan trench coat over a simple black dress and sheer black heels, the Oscar-winning actress strutted along the French capital city's sidewalks before hitting the entrance of the posh Plaza Athenee.

The City of Lights sighting comes shortly after Miss Portman joined fellow actress Susan Sarandon in penning notes (which ended up being posted on Facebook) to try and help end the bloodshed in Syria.

The goal of the celebrity intervention is that their spotlight grabbing ability will help pressure Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his Russian ally to change their current course of action.

Philippe Bolopion, UN director at Human Rights Watch in New York, explained, “We hope they will help impress on the Syrian government and its few remaining supporters, including Russia, that the rest of the world will not turn a blind eye while mass atrocities are committed against the civilian population."

Bolopion added, "It was conceived as a show of solidarity to Syrian victims who must feel abandoned by the UN Security Council, whose hands have been tied by Russia and China.”

Rihanna In Running For X Factor

Is Rihanna in the running for the XFactor judge position? It seems like Britney is out and Rihanna is the next song bird in line. I don’t know, I mean I know Britney was asking $20 million as opposed to the $10 million she was offered but she is Britney freaking Spears. Cheetos aren’t cheap! But I guess doubling the millions wasn’t the ways to go and X Factor just isn’t interested. IMO it was the only way to get that show going. It just doesn’t do anything for me. They should have done it years go when Idol began to fall off – tons of votes doesn’t count when old ladies can sit there and hit redial time and time again. If Simon thought Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger were going to make that show worth watching, then he is not as smart as his money makes him seem. Hollywood Life has the details on this story saying, Could Rihanna find herself sitting pretty next to Simon Cowell this fall? An insider at The X Factor tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively that negotiations have started for the “Birthday Cake” singer to be added to the show’s illustrious panel — which is [...]

Adele Notches Best Sales Year Since Usher's Confessions

In 2011, 21 moved more than 5.6 million copies in the U.S.
By Gil Kaufman

The music industry has been stuck in a rut for nearly a decade. But every once in a while, it still manages to produce one of those unstoppable hit albums that give everyone that good old feeling.

This year's model is Adele's 21, which not only sold more copies than any other album in the U.S. in 2011 (more than 5.6 million to date), but which has also moved the most units of any artist since 2004. According to a Reuters report, those gaudy figures (which top 15 million worldwide) make the British songbird the first artist to cross the 5 million mark in one year since Usher did it with his fourth studio album, Confessions, which sold 7.9 million units more than seven years ago.

And to think she did it by releasing just two mega singles, "Rolling in the Deep" and "Someone Like You," and barely touring North America due to recurring vocal issues.

There have been other big hits along the way to Adele's mark, including Eminem selling more than 3.4 million copies of his comeback Recovery album last year and Taylor Swift taking the honors in 2009 with Fearless, which sold 3.2 million copies. But none have come as close to Usher's mark in the interim.

There doesn't seem to be any chance Adele will be surpassed by the end of the year: The closest contenders are Lady Gaga's Born This Way (2.08 million) and Michael Bublé's Christmas (2.4 million). The other good news is that overall music sales are expected to be up slightly (3 percent) by the end of this year, marking the first time that's happened since 2004.

Justin Bieber's 'Boyfriend' Track Is 'Super Hip-Hop,' Producer Says

'Our whole goal was to make something that was hater-proof,' Mike Posner says of the upcoming single.
By James Dinh

The anticipation for Justin Bieber's brand-new single, "Boyfriend," which invades radio airwaves March 26, is building. Not only is the track earning early raves from radio jocks, but also the song's producer, Mike Posner.

During an interview last week with radio DJ Bootleg Kev, the R&B supertalent dished about his studio session with the Biebster for "Boyfriend," the lead single off the pop star's highly anticipated album, Believe. "I have Bieber's new single," Posner said. "I wrote and produced that with him. And wait 'til you hear the beat; you're going to flip. You're going to want to play this song. Yes, it's super hip-hop."

It was only a matter of time until the young Biebs also took his spitting skills to the forefront as Posner admits the 18-year-old superstar raps "a little eight bars" and offers some "crazy" singing afterward on the track. "That was our whole goal, was to make something that was hater-proof," he continued.

Asked about the star's work ethic, Posner revealed his hesitation, saying, "He's super talented. At first I didn't know what to expect because he's super young, but dude can write."

Baltimore radio host Mick Lee recently spoke about the track, noting the song's major transition from Bieber's previous material. "All I'm saying ... is wow ... so much different than his previous music," he gushed on the station's website. "The best way to describe it is a mix of Justin Timberlake 'Sexy Back' ... 'NSYNC 'Girlfriend' — And get this ... he raps ... best comparison is it sounds like 'Wait' by the Ying Yang Twins."

Are you excited for Bieber's track "Boyfriend"?
